Papalala Za Ongwala (the wings of the Eagle)

All of the proceeds from the sale of Shirley's paintings go to the Eagle Wings Christian Family. Eagle Wings is Chiomba Nkhanga  in Chchewa.  Eagle Wings is made up of a very small group of Christians, who support five local Malawian missionaries and their families in their work. Eagle Wings is not a charity organisation, instead it aims to help Malawians to become self sufficient. https://www.facebook.com/wingsofmalawi/

Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not be faint.”

Updates on survivors Of Cyclone Freddy April 2023

Over a month and some are still without help.

Eagle Wings has gone with hand to hand food and water and basic needs`

Over 500 reported are dead, more not counted. Most bodies will not be recovered from under the mud and boulders. over 476 reported still missing but thats just the ones that have been reported. Still as of writing this villages havent been reached.

Our Pastor Charles was working in Blantyre. He managed to get a ride to the nearest spot off the main damaged road. After that he had to walk 5 hours to his village, that had been swallowed up. Killing his relations. He said it was like walking into the end of the world. His village is near the Mozambique border. Huge boulders had rolled off Mount Mulanje. the mountain has split. bodies burried and hands sticking our from under boulders. He was the first to reach his village. It was devastating. He talked to a few survirors whom were left with nothing. they were very dramatised This was over 3 weeks after the cyclone. They were without shelter or food. Fortunitly they could still get fresh water off the mountain.

Every family missing a loved one or finding a dead body of thier loved ones. Lots of Children perished here. We will never know the true figure.

Pastor Chales wife Odita's Village was also one of the worse hit by the cyclone. But as of April some help has reached that village.

Below are some of the photos recieved from Pastor Charles.

We as Eagel Wings plan to continue to support Nsanje where Pastor Julius is. But our project is to support these two forgotten villages that have been wipped out. Not just now but for as long as the donations continue. Helping the most desperate first. Even after all this time the only way to reach these villages is by air.

We are properly going to try motorbikes. Will you join us on the Journey to bring back a village of death to a village of homes and crops and a life again. Please join us on this very speacial journey. Become a regular giver.

Cyclone Freddy 2023 a month on no help

Nkhumba is home village and Malunda is my wife's home village

these forgotten villages near Mulanje on the Mozambique border were wiped out.
as Boulders came off the mountain - not many survived.
pastor Charles walked over 5 hours. He found his village transformed. Into boulders and crevices- bodies under the mud and houses gone. It was a scene like the end of the world. Devastating no one had reached these two villages after a month since cyclone Freddy hit. Mt Mulanje split . With all the waterfalls.
lives swallowed up .

March 2023 Cyclone Freddy

A Nsanje survivor!!! After crawling out of his house. - report from Pastor Julius Damson
He is 80 years old, from traditional authority Ndamela. He has difficulties in walking,  is using wooden walking stick to help his  mobility. He is amongst those surviving Freddy cyclone. When cyclone started, he was inside his small house made of mud bricks. When he saw it was raining heavily and nonstop, he decided to crawl going  outside his house and hide under the trees. His house was severely damaged including everything inside his small house.  Despite of loosing everything, he indeed thank God for saving his life.

March 2023 sadness for the loss of life.

I really appreciate the hard work Judy is doing and I know it is not easy. To raise funds. Judy has a special calling from God. She is an orginizer. Our Treasurer in Australia.

Please continue to pray for Malawi. as of now/ end of March only 30 precent are being reached. Crops washed away means hunger. Continue search for dead bodies somewhere in the mud` lack of drinking water. and Choleria. In Blantyre things are very bad.
